Originally from the small town of Waterville, Ohio, Maddie Starr began her journey in healthcare with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. In 2016, seeking the energy and opportunity of big city life, she moved to Chicago and began working in the pediatric emergency room at Lurie Children’s Hospital. Her time in the ER illuminated the importance of preventive care and inspired her to pursue a more proactive role in children's health.
Maddie earned her Certified School Nurse license and Professional Educator’s License through the University of Illinois at Chicago. She then joined Chicago Public Schools, where she served on Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams across multiple schools. In this role, she conducted health evaluations and worked closely with special education teachers, physical and occupational therapists, psychologists, and speech therapists to ensure students' health needs were properly accommodated—an experience she deeply values.
Eager to expand her impact, Maddie earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from DePaul University and became a licensed Family Nurse Practitioner. She then joined an allergy, asthma, and immunology practice in Lincoln Park, where she worked with patients ranging in age from infancy to elderly adults. It was here that she gained expertise in oral and sublingual immunotherapy for food allergies and developed a strong passion for supporting individuals with allergy-related conditions.
Now living in Mesa, Arizona, Maddie is part of the Modena Allergy and Asthma team. She is dedicated to providing individualized, holistic care to every patient she serves, combining evidence-based practice with a deep sense of compassion.
Outside of work, Maddie loves exploring her new home state with her husband and their two rescue dogs. Whether hiking, camping, or kayaking, she finds joy and balance in the great outdoors.
