Problem

Find Relief From Nasal Congestion

Nasal polyps are soft, non-cancerous growths that form in the sinuses and extend into the nasal passages. Though painless, they can cause significant discomfort by triggering chronic inflammation, which often leads to ongoing sinus infections, nasal congestion, and a reduced sense of taste or smell.

Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) can cause persistent drainage, sinus pressure, and overwhelming fatigue. CRSwNP is frequently associated with other inflammatory conditions, such as asthma and NSAID sensitivity (allergic reactions to common pain relievers like ibuprofen or aspirin).

Treatment

The last 5 years have seen major advances in nasal polyps treatments.

For years, the most definitive treatments for nasal polyps were surgery (called polypectomy) and steroid medications like nasal sprays. However, research shows that polyps can recur up to 60% of the time following surgery. And steroid medications used to treat polyps can cause both short-term and permanent side effects, being linked to weight gain, diabetes, osteoporosis, psychological problems, and infections like pneumonia. At Modena of Solana Beach, we offer today's most innovative nasal polyp treatments, targeting inflammation of the nasal canal and foregoing the need for steroids or repeated surgeries.
