Allergy Shot Patient FAQ
In accordance with the latest guidelines from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI), we have updated our allergy shot protocols. Our team will be happy to walk you through these changes at your next visit. We’ve also included answers to some commonly asked questions below to help you know what to expect.
What will happen with my allergy shots?
Patients receiving immunotherapy can continue using their current vial. When a vial expires or is depleted, a new formulation will be prepared. For safety, the transition may require more frequent visits while the dose is built back up. Please follow the schedule provided by your care team.
How long will I need to stay in the office after my allergy shot?
In accordance with current guidelines from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, patients will be required to remain in the office for 20 minutes following their allergy shot.
Do I need to bring an EpiPen or Neffy to my allergy shot appointments?
Yes. Patients will be required to bring either an EpiPen or Neffy when coming in for allergy shots. If you do not currently have one, our office can help facilitate a prescription without requiring an additional appointment with an allergist.
